SR A1A FROM 3RD STREET TO PALM BEACH COUNTY LINE

The purpose of this project was to preserve the existing pavement and improve bike, pedestrian, and traffic safety along this 0.8-mile two-lane urban principal arterial in the City of Deerfield Beach. The proposed improvements include milling and resurfacing, new bike lanes, new concrete sidewalk, new driveways, drainage improvements, and signing and pavement marking. Extensive coordination was required with adjacent businesses and property owners, FDOT, Broward County MPO, and the City of Deerfield Beach to meet local beach community requirements and accommodate new bike lanes and sidewalk within the existing right of way. Drainage improvements include closed storm drain systems, French drain systems, and trench drain systems to minimize right of way requirements. Extensive utility coordination was required to accommodate new drainage structures, including the identification of 70 utility conflicts that required use of matrices and Utility Work Schedules to ensure all UAO conflicts were resolved.
